Do you ever feel like you have to have it 'all together' before you come to God?
Maybe you're like me and you feel like you need to bring your life before God like your curated Instagram feed - picture perfect and and filtered.
Maybe you feel like you need to sort out your issues, stop doing all of the 'bad' things and be, well, at least somewhat presentable before you draw near to God.
But God doesn't need the picture-perfect you.
You don't need to come to Him with your life together. You don't have to come to God with all of your solutions and answers to every problem.
God just wants you to come to Him.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
- James 4:8 (ESV)
I love this scripture in James - it has been a guiding scripture for me. James 4:8 is a constant reminder that God is already there, waiting, and that all He needs is for us to say 'hello'.
Truly, it's that simple.
When we try and clean ourselves up before coming before God, we miss out on His transformative power that changes us. This is the power that brings forth beauty from the ashes, and make us healed and whole.
So why hold ourselves back?
Friend, you don't have to clean yourself up before you go to Jesus. Draw near to Him today, just the way you are.
I want to hear your thoughts and get to know you. Would you leave a comment below and let me know what you think?
