You are light

Welcome, gorgeous girl!

I am SO glad you've found this little piece of the internet. I want to inspire you to know your worth.
You are beautiful. You are loved. You have been won at the highest price.
But do you know WHO you are called to be?

You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand - shine!
— Matthew 5:14-16

When Jesus said those words 2000+ years ago, He was speaking to a bunch of ordinary people. Yet He said, "YOU are the light of the world".  And today, the same remains as it did when Jesus said those words to every-day people. YOU are the light of the world - you are here to reveal & illuminate the truth of Jesus. It can be so easy to measure yourself against pastors and leaders in the church, and to think that God only works through them.  But it's not just church staff members who are the light - it's every single person who knows Jesus.

The truth is that God takes an ORDINARY person and uses them to share His extraordinary message, His love, His light. In this passage, Jesus says you are the light of the WORLD, not the light of the church - it's about taking light beyond the four walls of the church and out into the darkness. After all, the mission of the church is to go OUT into a broken world and bring the lost home.

Jesus also talked about collective light - "a city on a hill". Imagine houses on a hill casting a light glow across a city. We were never meant to go it alone. We shine the brightest when we shine together. Christ says he's put us on a hilltop, on a light stand - so shine. Let's allow God to work through us so we can be light in this dark world.

At times, the world can seem like a pretty scary, overwhelming place. Sometimes we can get afraid, filled with fear and worry, and I'll be the first to admit that I do. But here's the good news - we can plug into the source - Jesus. He is the true light.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
— John 1:5

When you know whose you are, and what He has done for you, then you can boldly be the light that you were always called to be.
